The first "Seed Exhibition" and Agrarian Business Festival has been held in Sheki and Oghuz

Organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the first seed exhibition and sales fair of the season, as well as the Agrarian Business Festival, have been held in Sheki and Oghuz districts.

At the seed exhibition and sales fair, high-reproduction, certified seeds for autumn cereals were displayed. The event saw participation from various entities of the Ministry of Agriculture, other government institutions, local seed producers, large seed production and sales companies, as well as local companies specializing in other agricultural sectors.

Farmers from the Sheki-Zagatala economic region took part in the fairs held at the ASAN Service Center in Sheki and the Olympic Sports Complex in Oghuz.

The exhibition showcased cereal (barley, wheat) and vegetable plant varieties and seeds, various agricultural machinery and equipment, innovative irrigation technologies, alternative energy sources, new technologies used in cotton cultivation, modern agricultural materials, and plant protection products. During the seed exhibition and sales fair, detailed information was provided to farmers on obtaining certified seeds, selecting varieties suited to the region’s soil and climate conditions, and cleaning seeds. Relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture offered prompt advisory services to farmers.

In line with COP29 priorities, the event also featured alternative energy devices, ecological products, and climate-resilient local fruit and vegetable seeds and products.

Credit fairs for farmers were also organized at both districts. Around 10 banks and non-bank credit institutions exhibited their products and provided information on concessional loans for farmers.

As part of the event, training sessions were conducted by experts on various topics: Toğrul Həşimov from the Agrarian Insurance Fund discussed “Agricultural Insurance and Its Benefits in the Era of Climate Change,” Kənan Tapdıqlı from the Agrarian Services Agency covered “Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Methods and Applications,” Damət Soltanov, an agronomist from Sara Group, spoke on “Basics of Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection Measures under Global Climate Change Conditions,” and Xoşqədəm Ələsgərova from MT Group provided insights on “Agrotechnical Care Rules for Cereal Crops and Proper Seed Selection.”

To develop the seed market and local seed production, and to ensure access to certified, climate-appropriate, high-quality seeds for autumn planting, the Agrarian Innovation Center plans to organize similar seed exhibitions and sales fairs in Goranboy, Tartar, Aghsu, Zardab, Beylagan, Jalilabad, Masalli, Neftchala, Qakh, Balaken, and Shabran districts.

It should be noted that the seed exhibitions and sales fairs are organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agrarian Services Agency, the Azerbaijan Seed Growers Association, and several private companies.
